Sources confirmed that the Sudanese army took control of areas south of the capital, Khartoum, amid fierce battles in several areas of the capital. The army also launched raids on Rapid Support Forces sites west and east of the city of El Fasher.

A field source told Al Jazeera that the army bombed, with drones, at dawn on Sunday, the positions of the Rapid Support Forces in the eastern neighborhoods of Khartoum, targeting their gatherings.

A field source told Al Jazeera that the army had made significant progress in the eastern Nile neighbourhoods east of the capital, Khartoum, noting that the army had extended its control over several towns, including Ad Babiker and Wadi Al Akhdar, in addition to its control over large parts of the Kafouri neighbourhood northeast of Khartoum Bahri.

Meanwhile, sources in the forces allied with the Sudanese army told Al Jazeera that the army's warplanes launched raids this morning on sites belonging to the Rapid Support Forces west and east of the city of El Fasher, the capital of Darfur region.

The military media in the Sixth Division in El Fasher reported in a statement that the army targeted Rapid Support Forces sites in various areas surrounding the cities of El Fasher and Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur State, which led to the killing of dozens and the destruction of combat vehicles and two weapons and drone stores.

The statement also indicated that what it called the "Rapid Support Militia" shelled the city of El Fasher with artillery, which led to civilian casualties.

Nyala Airport

In a related context, recent satellite images taken between January 29 and February 4 showed the effects of the airstrikes that targeted parts of Nyala Airport in South Darfur State, western Sudan.

On the political level, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called in a statement today on the international community - especially the African Union, the United Nations and the Arab League - to support the roadmap proposed by the state leadership after extensive consultations with national and societal forces, as it represents a national consensus to establish peace and stability in the country and complete the transition tasks.

The roadmap included launching a comprehensive national dialogue for all political and societal forces, forming a government of national competencies, making the necessary amendments to the constitutional document, and stipulating the laying down of weapons and the evacuation of civilian objects as a basis for any talks with the Rapid Support Forces.
