On Monday, the Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, issued a decision to assign the Deputy Executive Director General of the Yemeni Company for Oil and Minerals Investments, Hani Saleh Mohsen Al-Ashla, to carry out the duties and powers of the Executive Director General of the company, while suspending the former Director Adel Al-Hammadi and referring him to investigation.
According to the decision, the new acting director was obligated to abide by the laws and agreements in force related to Sector (5) of the Jannah area, while the former director was prevented from practicing work until the completion of legal investigations into the violations attributed to him.
The decision came after Minister Saeed Al Shamsi rejected, a few days ago, the Prime Minister’s directives to suspend Al Hammadi, stressing that these directives conflict with the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council meeting, which was approved unanimously.
It is worth noting that the Yemeni Oil Investment Company is witnessing an ongoing dispute between the leadership of the Presidential Council and the Prime Minister, amid accusations related to the revenues of oil fields in Shabwa and Hadhramaut, and accusing the PetroMasila Company of controlling huge revenues since its establishment in 2013.
