Yemeni parliamentarian Ali Al-Maamari called for the necessity of activating parliamentary oversight over the work of oil companies and sectors in the country, including the Masila Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (PetroMasila).

MP Al-Maamari said in a brief statement on the X platform, "The state will not be restored as long as efforts are focused on seizing oil, ports and lands."

He added: "Many questions are raised about PetroMasila Company and the expansion of its activities, and the same questions are raised about different companies and sectors, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives must enable the Development and Oil Committee to carry out its duties."

He concluded his post by saying: “It is not permissible to remain silent under any pretext amidst the torrent of accusations and doubts,” without providing further details.

The company announced late last November the successful initial operation of the heavy fuel oil (mazut) refining unit and the production of experimental quantities with high specifications. It said that this was part of its plans for diversification and development after the cessation of oil exports and the attack on the export buoy more than two years ago (by the Houthi militia).
