Ibb: Yemen Youth Net - Special
The terrorist Houthi militia rented a public street in the city of Ibb (central Yemen) to street vendors and peddlers, causing a severe traffic crisis.
Local sources said that the Houthi militia in the Public Works Office and the Improvement Fund in Al-Dhahar District (the center of Ibb Governorate) rented out the sides of the main street in the transportation triangle area south of the city to vendors and street vendors.
The sources added that what happened comes within the framework of exploiting public projects and roads to generate money for influential leaders within the militia.
Travelers and passersby complained of severe traffic jams in the area due to the Houthi action, as the area is one of the most crowded areas in the city, with restaurants, malls, government service institutions, and branching streets leading to the city center and others to the southern and eastern entrances to the city.
The militia had taken a similar step in July of last year in the northern part of the city by renting the beginning of Al-Udayn Street, where Taiz Street meets Sana’a Street (Sirte Gulf), to vendors and street vendors in exchange for a monthly financial return (which was not disclosed).
Over the past years, the leaders of the terrorist Houthi militia have sought to divide up the public institutions, sectors and streets in the governorate and turn them into revenue cantons for their personal interests, as part of systematic looting of public money.
