The Yemeni government denied the news and rumors circulating about the privatization of some sectors of the Masila Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (PetroMasila).

This came in a statement by a responsible source in the Ministry of Oil and Minerals, published by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), today, Wednesday.

The source confirmed, categorically, that "the circulating rumors are false and aim to hinder the work of national companies," praising the role played by national companies in serving the country, led by PetroMasila Company, which is performing its national role under difficult and complex circumstances as a result of the effects and repercussions of the war caused by the terrorist Houthi militias in our country.

The source said, "The Ministry of Oil and Minerals and its affiliated companies and units are performing their national role with full responsibility and competence, despite the difficult challenges they face, especially after the targeting of oil export ports and the halting of export operations for more than two years, due to the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militias on them."

The source called on the media and activists on social media networks not to be led by rumors from unknown sources and to rely on official sources, warning of the dangers of believing the circulation of such rumors on economic stability and the work of national and investment companies in our country.

Earlier on Tuesday, Yemeni parliamentarian Ali Al-Maamari called for the need to activate parliamentary oversight over the work of oil companies and sectors in the country, including the Masila Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (PetroMasila).

MP Al-Maamari said in a brief statement on the X platform: “Many questions are raised about PetroMasila Company and the expansion of its activities, and the same questions are raised about different companies and sectors, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives must enable the Development and Oil Committee to carry out its duties.”

He concluded his post by saying: “It is not permissible to remain silent under any pretext amidst a torrent of accusations and doubts.”
