A horrific massacre against the displaced in Al-Mawasi and Hamas: The occupation’s demolition of residential neighborhoods is an unprecedented war crime

Twenty Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombardment of the displaced persons camp in the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, while Hamas confirmed that the occupation army’s continued demolition of residential neighborhoods and squares constitutes “an unprecedented war crime in contemporary history.”

The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip said that its crews are working to extinguish fires that broke out in the tents of the displaced in Mawasi Khan Yunis after Israeli shelling that led to the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians.

The spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza confirmed to Al Jazeera that 20 martyrs, including children, were killed in an Israeli bombardment of the displaced persons camp in Mawasi, Khan Yunis.

The tents and properties caught fire as a result of the Israeli raid, and the displaced rushed to try to put out the fire and rescue the injured, according to eyewitnesses to the Anadolu Agency correspondent.

Witnesses added that a number of tents were burned, and that the raid caused fear and panic among the safe women and children.

They pointed out that Israeli aircraft bombed the ground in Al-Khail Street in Al-Mawasi, which resulted in the injury of a number of Palestinians.

He also confirmed the martyrdom of 10 Palestinians and the injury of 50 others in an Israeli bombardment that targeted an entire residential block in the tunnel area in the center of Gaza City.

Al Jazeera quoted its correspondent as saying that several people were injured as a result of Israeli artillery shelling of the Al-Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip. He also confirmed that the body of a martyr was recovered as a result of Israeli shelling of the Al-Janina neighborhood east of Rafah city.

Medical sources told Al Jazeera that 55 Palestinians were killed in Israeli raids on several areas in the Gaza Strip since dawn on Wednesday.
