The government media office in Gaza said that more than 61,000 people were killed in the Israeli war of extermination in the Strip, which also caused the displacement of more than two million Palestinians from their homes.

The office explained during a press conference from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza today, Monday, that among the martyrs, 47,487 arrived at the hospitals, while 14,222 remained missing under the rubble or on the roads, and the number of wounded reached 111,588.

He added that the number of those arrested by the occupation exceeded 6,000 detainees, "who are subjected to the most heinous forms of abuse and various types of torture, and dozens of them were martyred under torture, while forced displacement affected more than two million people, some of whom were displaced more than 25 times in conditions lacking services."

Women, children and families

One of the most prominent headlines of the Israeli war of extermination was the targeting of children and women. Among the martyrs were 17,881 children, including 214 infants who were born and died during the aggression. More than 38,000 children were orphaned, including 17,000 children who lost both parents, while the occupation killed 12,316 women.

He added that the occupation committed 9,268 massacres against families during the war, which led to the erasure of data and the complete extermination of 2,092 families from the civil registry, while the occupation killed 4,889 families, leaving only one individual "to suffer the bitterness of loss and the pain of separation."

The occupation also killed 1,155 medical personnel, 205 journalists, and 194 civil defense personnel, while more than 150,000 housing units in the Gaza Strip were damaged during the war.

The media office confirmed that the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip put about 34 hospitals out of service in the Strip, while the losses of the transportation sector due to the war amounted to more than one and a half billion dollars.

In the education sector, 1,661 educational facilities were damaged, including 927 schools, universities, kindergartens and educational centers that were completely destroyed, and 734 educational facilities that were partially damaged, while the occupation killed 12,800 students and about 800 educational staff, and 785,000 students were deprived of continuing their education at various educational levels.

The Government Media Office declared the Gaza Strip a humanitarian disaster area, lacking all the necessities of life and human livelihood, which places the responsibility on the international community and its various organizations to urgently and quickly intervene to save more than 2.4 million people who are at risk of death from hunger, thirst, cold and disease.

The office held the occupation, the administration of former US President Joe Biden, and everyone who provided any form of political, economic, or military support and backing to the occupation responsible for this humanitarian tragedy experienced by the Palestinian people.

He stressed that the plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, with its various stages and required needs, has been formulated in partnership between government institutions and civil society institutions and with the knowledge of international institutions, and "we demand the rapid implementation of the required interventions in terms of urgent relief and rapid shelter, most notably the entry of 200,000 tents, 60,000 mobile homes and all shelter requirements."
