Hamas movement considered today, Thursday, that US President Donald Trump's statements regarding Gaza are "a declared will to occupy the Strip", calling for an emergency Arab summit to confront the displacement project. The movement's spokesman, Hazem Qassem, said that "Trump's statements are absolutely rejected, and Gaza belongs to its people and they will not leave it", considering that "Trump's talk about Washington taking over the Gaza Strip is a declared will to occupy the Strip".

Qassem stressed that the Gaza Strip does not need any state to manage its affairs, and said: "We do not accept replacing one occupation with another." Qassem pointed out that rejecting Trump's project is not enough and that "Palestinian unity is necessary to confront the displacement. We call on the various Palestinian parties to unite their ranks to confront Trump's project." He also called on Arab countries to "confront Trump's pressures and remain steadfast in their positions rejecting the displacement."

Trump announced a plan under which Washington would seize the Gaza Strip after emptying it of its people. His statements came at a press conference he held at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last Tuesday. He added: "We will turn this into an amazing global place. I think the potential and the Gaza Strip are amazing. I think the whole world and representatives from all over the world will be there and will live there. The Palestinians will live there, too. There will be Palestinians living there. There will be a lot of people living there." This is not the first time that Trump has proposed displacing the people of the Strip to other countries, but this time he has openly announced his intentions for the United States to seize the devastated Strip.

Trump reiterated his statements on Thursday despite widespread regional and international rejection. He said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social: "There will be no need for American soldiers! There will be stability in the region!" He added: "Israel will hand over the Gaza Strip to the United States when the fighting is over. The Palestinians will have already been resettled in safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region," thus ending the debate over the possibility of deploying American forces in the Gaza Strip, as the Wall Street Journal quoted American military officials yesterday, Wednesday, as saying that "the US Joint Chiefs of Staff has not yet received a request to formulate a plan to send troops to the Gaza Strip.

Trump's statements sparked angry reactions among Palestinians, who stressed their rejection of all forms of displacement, amid popular, factional and official rejection of these statements, which affect the Palestinians' established rights to their land and homeland. On Wednesday, Hamas Political Bureau member Suhail al-Hindi confirmed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that "the Palestinian people who thwarted the deal of the century will thwart US President Donald Trump's displacement plan." He said, "The Palestinian people, who were able to thwart the deal of the century and displacement plans since the 1950s, are capable of standing up to all attempts to displace them. He recalled that in the 1950s, when there was a plan to displace Palestinians to Sinai, the Palestinians stood as one to thwart this policy and succeeded."
