Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is facing criticism for likening the devastating wildfires currently raging through the Los Angeles area to the ongoing war in Gaza.

A video of the 66-year-old Oscar-winning actress making the comments during a Q&A session with her "The Last Showgirl" co-star Pamela Anderson in the new drama has gone viral.

"I was born and raised in the City of Angels, and now the whole city is on fire everywhere, the whole Pacific Palisades area is gone," the "Fairy Friday" star said.

"I mean literally, my neighborhood is gone, my house is still there tonight, but I live in a different valley, but the whole Pacific Palisades area unfortunately looks like Gaza or one of those countries that have been destroyed by war and terrible things have happened," Curtis added.

Curtis also announced Friday that she is donating $1 million to the Los Angeles fire relief efforts.

This is not the first time Jamie Lee has publicly called for helping others, as she previously called for helping Ukrainian refugees in the wake of the Ukraine war.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has come under fire for comparing the devastating wildfires currently sweeping through the Los Angeles area to the war in Gaza.

Followers' criticism

On the X platform, a large number of social media users attacked the American star for her comparison between upscale Los Angeles and war-torn Gaza, with one of them writing, “This is a very horrific comparison.”

This year's fires are the most destructive in California's history, costing an estimated $135 billion to $150 billion, and climate experts say climate change is playing a major role in increasing the frequency and severity of these natural disasters.
