The most prominent violations include confiscating their families’ mobile phones, preventing them from photographing and documenting the moments of their release, and storming their homes before the prisoners arrive, as happened previously in prisoner exchange deals during the truce period last November, when the occupation forces stormed the home of Jerusalemite prisoner Amani Al-Hashim and confiscated all aspects of welcoming the prisoner, including sweets.

A member of the Committee of Families of Jerusalemite Prisoners and Detainees considered that the occupation’s practices reflect a systematic policy aimed at suppressing families and preventing them from exercising their legitimate rights to rejoice in welcoming their children.

The Committee expressed its growing concern about the escalation of raids on prisoners’ homes, especially female and child prisoners who are expected to be released soon.

Al-Zughayer pointed out that the occupation deals with these cases with clear violence, without any consideration for international conventions that guarantee the rights of prisoners and their families, which opens the door to more serious violations in the coming hours.

Al-Zughayer said: “The occupation authorities must inform the families of prisoners, such as the prisoner who was re-arrested after the Wafa al-Ahrar deal, Alaa Bazian, who is 68 years old, about the fate of his release, especially since he is blind and will be deported abroad without the accompaniment of his family or coordination with his family, and this raises concerns about his fate, instead of storming the homes of male and female prisoners whose fate and how they will be released are known.”

He pointed out that the families of the prisoners in Jerusalem and the institutions supporting the prisoners demand the urgent intervention of the international community and putting an end to the oppressive policies practiced against the families of the prisoners in Jerusalem; to ensure their protection and preserve their dignity in the face of the occupation.
