In a rare unified move, Arab countries are coming together to coordinate their steps and positions in the face of US President Donald Trump's proposal to transfer Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt.

Influential Arab countries, including historical allies of the United States such as Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Qatar, have intensified their diplomatic efforts in recent days to affirm their rejection of Trump’s proposal and the rejection of uprooting Palestinians from Palestinian lands.

Cairo appears to be at the forefront of this coordinated Arab move, as it announced hosting an emergency Arab summit at the end of February to discuss the dangerous developments in the Palestinian issue.

Egypt also later said it would "present a comprehensive vision" for the reconstruction of Gaza, ensuring that Palestinians remain on their land, and Cairo had "in principle" obtained approval to hold an emergency ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation after the upcoming summit.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi described the proposal to deport Palestinians as "an injustice in which we cannot participate."

After meeting his US counterpart Marco Rubio in Washington, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati stressed the rejection of any settlement that could violate the rights of Palestinians to remain in Gaza.

Agence France-Presse quoted former Egyptian diplomats as saying that Egypt sent a clear message that any attempt to displace Palestinians from their land "will be considered an act of war."
