The former director of the Moral Affairs Department of the Egyptian army, Major General Samir Farag, said that the statements of US President Donald Trump regarding the control of Gaza have political and economic dimensions that target China.

He said in statements on a local channel that China is currently implementing the largest maritime project in the world, which is a trade route that aims to transport ships carrying 24,000 containers and oil tankers to Europe.

He added that the project is expected to be completed by next year, noting that it will enable China to control trade movement with Europe.

He explained that Trump wants to control Gaza as part of the strategy to strike the Chinese trade corridor; in order to complete the occupation's plan to establish an alternative canal to the Suez Canal called Ben Gurion, linking Eilat on the Red Sea and Ashkelon on the Mediterranean Sea, across the Negev Desert.

He added that the planned Israeli canal will be 30 meters deep, the same depth as the Suez Canal, and will cost about $16 billion; but the problem is that Ashkelon is located next to the Gaza Strip, which makes the project impossible to implement without controlling the Strip.

He stressed that Trump aims to achieve two goals by controlling Gaza: the first is to strike the Chinese trade corridor, and the second is to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
