Everton forced a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Wednesday evening in the postponed Merseyside derby match from the 15th round of the English Premier League.

The home side opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Pinto, who took advantage of a defensive error to put the ball into the net.

Five minutes later (16), Alexis Mac Allister equalized for Liverpool with a beautiful header after an assist from Mohamed Salah.

In the 73rd minute, Salah scored the Reds' lead with a powerful shot into the corner of the net, clear of goalkeeper Pickford.

As the match was drawing to a close (69), Everton equalized through James Tarkowski with a powerful shot inside the penalty area.

With this result, Liverpool raised its score to 57 points, 7 points ahead of its closest competitor, Arsenal.

In contrast, Everton raised its score to 27 points in 15th place.

The match was originally scheduled to take place on 7 December but was postponed just four hours before kick-off due to Storm Drag which was sweeping across Merseyside at the time, making it impossible to play the game in the stormy conditions.

Liverpool top the league table with 56 points, collected from winning 17 matches, drawing 5 and losing only one match.

In contrast, Everton is ranked 16th in the league table with 26 points, from winning 6 matches, drawing 8 and losing 9.

Liverpool are close to achieving a historic achievement in this derby, as they are one victory away from reaching their 100th win against Everton in all competitions, after achieving 99 previous victories, 77 draws and 68 defeats.
