3.3 million people vaccinated.. Yemeni Health confirms the success of the cholera vaccination campaign in its first round

The Ministry of Public Health and Population announced the success of the first round of the cholera vaccination campaign in the liberated governorates, which was implemented by the Ministry with the support of its partners, during the period from December 7 to 12.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Primary Health Care Sector, Dr. Ali Al-Walidi, stated in a statement published by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the immunization teams immunized 3 million, 312 thousand, and 987 people, with a completion rate of 86.3 percent.

Dr. Al-Walidi praised the efforts of the immunization teams and their counterparts, the education and awareness teams, in achieving this advanced rate of immunization, overcoming many field challenges, praising the remarkable community interaction with the immunization and health education teams.

Since the beginning of this year, Yemen has witnessed a new outbreak of cholera, with most cases recorded in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, which continues to launch campaigns to distort vaccines.

According to the latest statistics issued by the World Health Organization, 245,776 cases were reported across Yemen, during the period from January 1 to November 24, 2024, including 861 deaths associated with the disease.
