The World Health Organization announced that cholera cases in Yemen have risen to nearly a quarter of a million cases, and 861 deaths associated with the disease since the beginning of this year, making it the country with the highest outbreak of the epidemic among the countries included in the report.
The organization said in its latest report on the cholera outbreak, issued on Wednesday, that 245,776 cases were reported across Yemen, during the period from January 1 to November 24, 2024.
The report added that deaths associated with the epidemic in Yemen since the beginning of the year amounted to 861 cases.
The report explained that Yemen reported 21,082 new cases of the epidemic last November, including 71 deaths.
The UN statistics indicate that the reported cases of cholera and watery diarrhea ( AWD ) in Yemen represent the highest number recorded among the 35 countries worldwide, as documented in the report.
