Forces affiliated with the UAE-backed Transitional Council announced the launch of a military campaign to combat terrorism at dawn on Wednesday in areas east of Mudiyah District in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen. This is part of a series of previous campaigns over the past two years.
According to official media sources, "the military campaign was launched within the framework of "Operation Arrows of the East" in Wadi Omran and the areas and valleys adjacent to it, northeast of Mudiyah District, with the aim of pursuing terrorist organizations."
She added, "The military operation resulted in the killing of one of our members and three terrorists, the cleansing of Wadi Rafd, control of the camp, and the cleansing of Wadi Matar and the adjacent valleys."
The STC's military campaign is led by the STC's Support and Backup Brigades. In a statement about the campaign, it said, "Our forces have dealt a devastating blow to the terrorist organizations, which were trying to establish strongholds and hideouts to penetrate and carry out their failed attacks to target our forces."
From time to time, gunmen believed to belong to terrorist organizations launch attacks and ambushes with explosive devices targeting the Transitional Council forces in Abyan Governorate, resulting in deaths and injuries among the Transitional Council militias.
About two and a half years ago, the Transitional Council launched a military operation, "Arrows of the East," on August 22, 2022, to combat terrorism in Abyan, and launched the second phase of the operation in early 2023, but the results of this extensive campaign are not known.
