The Specialized Criminal Appeal Prosecution in Ma'rib Governorate announced today, Thursday, the destruction of 1,518 kilograms of hashish, estimated at more than 60 million US dollars.
According to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba", this destruction operation is the largest to take place in Ma'rib Governorate, northeastern Yemen.
The Chief Prosecutor, First Attorney General, Muhammad Ali Al-Haidari, explained that the destruction operation came in implementation of the rulings issued by the Specialized Criminal Court in 13 cases of hashish trafficking and smuggling issued during the years 2022 and 2023.
He stated that the security services in the governorate had referred the cases after seizing this quantity during an attempt to smuggle it to the areas of the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.
He pointed out that the militia uses drugs as a thriving trade to finance its war on the Yemeni people and target Yemeni youth with this narcotic substance to control them and mobilize them to the battlefronts in its ranks, in addition to smuggling it to neighboring countries.
