Citizens complained that the terrorist Houthi militia attempted to hijack the efforts of a community initiative in one of the towns of Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), and divert one of the service projects to its benefit.

Local sources said that the Houthi militia is trying to hijack the efforts of a community initiative in the town of Al-Tuwaiti in Al-Saddah District, east of Ibb, and to use a road paving and asphalting project built by the residents for its benefit.

The sources added that the people of the area paved and paved the 6-kilometre Jabal Al-Tuwaiti road, which will connect the area to the Ash-Sha’ir and Ba’dan directorates east of Ibb, with full funding from the people of the area. However, a militia, through the so-called “Central Emergency Interventions Unit” affiliated with the Ministry of Finance in its unrecognised government, photographed the project and attributed it to itself.

The project benefits 8 villages and 4,000 people, and the cost of what has been completed so far - 2 kilometers - has reached 85 million riyals.

During the war years, community initiatives were active in Ibb Governorate, which is under the control of the Houthi militia, supporting service projects in various sectors at the expense of the well-off and expatriates, and with the cooperation of the residents, after development operations were halted due to the Houthi coup. The militia blatantly attributes these works to itself, in addition to forcing the initiatives to pay percentages of the value of project financing in its favor.
