The terrorist Houthi militia opened a new detention center in the city of Ibb (central Yemen) while continuing its wide-scale kidnapping and arrest campaigns in various districts of the governorate.

The militia said in a statement published by its security media that the local and security authorities in Ibb Governorate - under its control - opened a new prison for women at the headquarters of the Central Prison Reformatory.

This comes at a time when the militia continues its campaigns of kidnappings and widespread arrests targeting various segments of society, in an extension of the repression that the militia has been pursuing in the governorate since its occupation in the fall of 2014.

The news of the prison’s opening sparked a campaign of mockery and ridicule on social media, as citizens mocked the militia’s achievements, which varied between opening prisons and cemeteries, while human rights activists denounced the Houthi measure and said that it reflects the militia’s culture of repression and its desire to continue restricting the freedom of the governorate’s residents.

Human rights reports revealed the year before last that the terrorist Houthi militia was running about 91 official, secret and private prisons in Ibb Governorate.
