A judge in a court controlled by the Houthi militia in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) detained a lawyer today, Saturday, for demanding that he defend his client.

Human rights sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that the judge of the Eastern Ibb Primary Court, which is under Houthi control, Abbas Zaid, ordered the detention of lawyer "Walid Ali Omar Al-Kathiri" in the court's prison.

The sources added that Al-Kathiri's detention came after an argument between Al-Kathiri and the judge during the session, after the former demanded to defend his client, whom he was pleading for, after the judge confiscated his right to plead.

The sources indicated that Al-Kathiri was detained in the court's prison and is still there until now.

Every now and then, lawyers are subjected to violations and attacks by the Houthi judiciary and militia militants while performing their duties.
