A Houthi court in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) continued the trial of a human rights activist over posts he made on social media, in which he criticized the corruption of a number of Houthi militia officials in the governorate.

Human rights sources said that human rights activist, Mursal Al-Shabibi, appeared on Saturday for trial in the fourth session before the Public Funds Court affiliated with the Houthi militia in Ibb Governorate, on charges he published on his Facebook wall.

The sources explained that the court postponed the issuance of the verdict in yesterday's session until after the end of the judicial vacation in Shawwal.

The young activist is active in exposing the corruption of the Houthi militia in the governorate, especially with regard to tampering with street plans.

In recent months, the Houthi militia has intensified its campaigns of harassment against activists and media professionals in Ibb governorate who are active in exposing the militia’s crimes and violations. It has kidnapped a number of them and put others on trial, which has prompted many of them to leave the governorate, while others have preferred silence to escape the militia’s brutality.
