Merchants in Al-Qaeda City in Dhi As-Sufal District in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) complained about the illegal taxes that militia elements continue to impose on them, and the huge losses they have inflicted on them, which have pushed some of them into bankruptcy.

Special sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that a number of merchants in Al-Qaeda city filed complaints to the militia authorities in Ibb and Sana'a, accusing the so-called "Mohammed Mohammed Mahyoub Haidar Al-Assad", appointed by the militia as Deputy Director of Industry and Trade in Al-Qaeda city, of imposing illegal and unjustified taxes on merchants and vendors in the city.

The sources added that the traders complain that "Assad" is imposing taxes on traders under various names without official documents, fabricating malicious charges and threatening them with imprisonment for anyone who refuses to pay those taxes.

In their complaints, the merchants expressed their surprise at the militia authorities’ failure to take any action against “Assad” despite the many complaints filed against him, holding the militia responsible for the decline in commercial activity in the city and the losses they incurred, threatening to resort to the judiciary.

Al-Qaeda city and other cities in Ibb governorate, including its main center, are witnessing a state of commercial stagnation and market depression, the most prominent reasons for which were Houthi levies and the destructive practices pursued by the militia.
