Ibb: Yemen Youth Net - Special
Informed sources confirmed that leaders of the Houthi militia in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen) continue to fuel a local conflict in Al-Shaer District (east), in conjunction with pressures exerted by other leaders on the residents of one of the towns of Al-Sayani District (south) to establish a "crusher" project for a Houthi investor coming from Amran.
The sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that the Deputy Director of Security of Ibb Governorate, named (Hamid Al-Razihi), and the Director of Al-Sha'ir District, named (Ashraf Al-Salahi), continue to fuel the local conflict between the (Al-Shahbin) and "Al-Ubayya" families over the construction of a road in Al-Sha'ir District.
The sources added that the road-building machinery in the lands of Al-Shahbin resumed work yesterday, Monday, under security protection from the militia, which threatens to spark a conflict between the two families, as the Al-Shahbin family refuses to build a road in its lands in light of the existence of another paved road that serves all the villages of the region in the Al-Amluk district.
The sources indicated that the Houthi leaders are keen to continue with the project, which is financed by expatriates in America from the "Ubayya" family, in order to maintain control over the region and continue the flow of money to them from the project's implementers under the pretext of "protection."
In another context, other Houthi leaders, headed by the leader appointed as deputy governor of Ibb, Yahya Al-Qasimi, have resumed exerting pressure on the people of the Nakhalan area in the As-Siyani district, to establish a “crusher” project in the fertile valley in the area for one of the Houthi investors coming from Amran.
Informed sources said that the Houthi investor, along with the militia leaders, recently came to the Al-Sayani District with the aim of putting pressure on the residents to accept the establishment of the project, which could not be started last August, after the residents refused.
The sources added that the Houthi efforts are still facing rejection from the people of the region, who believe that the project will have environmental damage in the near and long term.
Last August, a Houthi investor from Amran came with armed men and equipment to establish a crusher in the Wadi Nakhalan area, after he was able to obtain a license from the Houthi militia. However, his efforts failed in the face of the locals’ solidarity and rejection.
Ibb Governorate, which is under the control of the Houthi militia, is witnessing continuous violations and attacks on public and private property, which are met with societal resistance and increasing popular rejection.
