The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance in eastern Yemen announced today, Monday, that it will allow the supply of Aden electricity with crude oil starting next Saturday, and during the holy month of Ramadan.

The alliance said in a statement, "The head of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Ali, and the leadership of the alliance's security committee have been instructed to allow the continuation of the supply of electricity to Aden from Hadhramaut crude oil in the usual daily quantities starting from next Saturday, corresponding to February 22, 2025 AD, during the holy month of Ramadan."

The statement explained that this came "out of a humanitarian and fraternal stance towards our people and brothers in beloved Aden, on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, in appreciation of the situation and what the community is experiencing there, and after consultation with the presidency of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance."

On February 2, 2025, the tribal alliance announced the cessation of supplying Aden with crude oil, in a move it said came "to preserve Hadhramaut's wealth and after the people of Hadhramaut gave the Presidential Leadership Council sufficient time to decide on implementing Hadhramaut's legitimate entitlements."

This step led to the electricity system in Aden being completely out of service after the president's station stopped working, which led to the outbreak of angry popular protests denouncing the deterioration of services in the temporary capital, and the protests are still ongoing.
