IOM: 44 Yemeni families displaced during the past week

The International Organization for Migration announced the displacement of 44 families from several Yemeni governorates during the past week, driven by security fears, threats, and economic factors.

The organization said in its weekly report, issued yesterday, Sunday, that its tracking matrix monitored the displacement of 44 Yemeni families (264 individuals) during the period from December 1 to 7.

She explained that the majority of displacement cases originated from Taiz, Dhamar and Ibb, and settled in Marib (32 families), Taiz (8 families), and Hodeidah (4 families).

The organization stated that concerns related to safety and security as a result of the conflict were the main reason behind 24 families leaving their areas of origin, representing 55% of the total displacement cases, while economic reasons related to displacement led to 24 families leaving, representing 45%.

She pointed out that the total number of displaced persons throughout the country rose during the period from January 1 to December 7, 2024, to 3,456 families representing (20,736 individuals).
