IOM: 59 Yemeni families displaced during the past week

The International Organization for Migration announced today, Thursday, the displacement of 59 families from several Yemeni governorates during the past week, driven by security fears and threats, economic and health factors.

The organization said in its weekly report that its tracking matrix monitored the displacement of 59 Yemeni families (354 individuals) during the period from November 17 to 23.

She explained that the majority of displacement cases originated from Hodeidah, Amran and Taiz, and settled in Marib (43 families) and Hodeidah (16 families).

The organization stated that economic reasons related to the conflict were the main reason behind 32 families leaving their original areas, representing 54% of the total displacement cases, while reasons related to safety and security forced 24 families to flee, representing 41%, and health reasons were behind the displacement of 3 families, representing 5% of the total displaced.

She pointed out that the total number of displaced persons throughout the country rose during the period from January 1 to November 23, 2024, to 3,297 families representing (19,782 individuals).
