The Ministry of Endowments and Guidance announced the extension of the registration period for those wishing to perform Hajj until February 10.

According to Saba News Agency, the ministry indicated that the extension decision came "in light of the circumstances our country is going through, the difficulties facing the registration process, and what the interests of work require."

The Ministry expressed its hope that everyone would adhere to the specified date in order to ensure that the remaining procedures are completed according to the timetables regulating the season’s work.

She noted that this date is a binding deadline for everyone due to the tasks and binding procedures that result from it, stressing that the Ministry has the right to take the necessary measures in the event of non-compliance.

The approved delegation agencies had appealed to the Ministry of Endowments and Guidance to extend the deadline for registering those wishing to perform Hajj, which was scheduled to end last Thursday, January 16.

Abdulrahman Ghaleb, a member of the Supreme Executive Committee for the Hajj and Umrah Sector at the Yemeni Tourism Federation, said in a statement to Al-Thawra newspaper that most of the approved travel agencies suffer from weak demand and were unable to market their programs well during the registration period.

He added that the accredited agencies need to extend the registration period to give the opportunity to all those wishing to apply for Hajj. He added that opening the registration period early is a positive thing, but this does not mean closing the door early as well, since there is nothing that prevents extending the registration period.
