Security forces suppress teachers' protest in Shabwa

Security forces suppressed a protest by dozens of teachers in Shabwa Governorate, northeastern Yemen, on Wednesday.

Local sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that members of the joint forces (Public Security - Shabwa Defense) attacked the protest that the teachers intended to hold in front of the local authority building in the city of Ataq , to demand their rights and financial dues.

She added that the soldiers tore up the protest slogans and dispersed the protesters who gathered to demand their dues and legal rights.

The sources indicated that after the teachers were attacked, they moved to the Education Office to carry out the sit-in in which they announced a strike starting tomorrow, Thursday, in protest against the neglect of their demands.

The protesters are demanding that the local authority in Shabwa pay a monthly incentive to male and female teachers, similar to what is paid to their colleagues in neighboring governorates.
