Security statistics reported that 90 people were killed and injured in traffic accidents in areas under the control of the internationally recognized Yemeni government during the first week of February.
The Security Media website of the Ministry of Interior reported on Sunday that the liberated areas witnessed 92 traffic accidents during the first week of February, which resulted in the death of 10 people and the injury of 80 others, 42 of whom were seriously injured, while material losses amounted to 14 million and 650 thousand riyals.
He explained that the accidents were distributed between 53 vehicle collisions, 13 pedestrian run-over accidents, 20 vehicle rollover accidents, 3 collision accidents, 2 vehicle falls, and 1 vehicle run-over accident.
The statistics attributed the causes of traffic accidents to (exceeding the specified speed limit, wrong and dangerous overtaking, being distracted from the road, neglecting vehicle maintenance and not checking its technical suitability and readiness before driving, technical faults and malfunctions, in addition to roads and their poor technical suitability, and negligence by pedestrians and road users).
