Shabwa: Security official survives assassination attempt in Ataq, young man's body found inside hotel in Bayhan

A security official in Shabwa survived an assassination attempt on Monday in the center of Ataq city, while the body of a young man was found murdered in a hotel in Bayhan district, amid chaos and security chaos sweeping the governorate, which is under the control of the Transitional Council supported in southeastern Yemen.

Local sources said that the commander of the patrol and road protection police in Shabwa Governorate, Colonel Ali Al-Dahboul, was shot by gunmen riding in a car near the security checkpoint on Dirham Street in the center of Ataq, the governorate’s center, which is under the control of the so-called Shabwa Defense Forces.

She added that the attack resulted in damage to citizens' cars that were near the site of the incident, and that Al-Dahboul and his companions were not injured, while the gunmen fled.

In another context, the security services found the body of a young man murdered inside the Taj Al-Saada Hotel in the center of Bayhan city, west of Shabwa Governorate.

According to the sources, the young man whose body was found was a street vendor from Taiz Governorate, noting that the security services are continuing their investigations to uncover the circumstances of his murder.

Last Thursday, activists revealed the "death of the young man, Muhammad Ali Daman, under torture in one of the secret prisons of the Giants Forces in Bayhan District."

Shabwa is witnessing unprecedented chaos, security chaos, and a rise in crime rates, in light of the near-total absence of the role of state security and judicial institutions since the UAE-backed Transitional Council forces took control of the governorate in August 2022.
