Taiz: More than 50,000 malaria cases in 2024

Health authorities in Taiz Governorate (southwest Yemen) revealed that more than 50,000 cases of malaria were recorded in the governorate during the past year, 2024.
Tayseer Al-Samai, the governorate's health media official, stated in a statistic posted on his Facebook page that 50,588 cases of malaria were recorded in Taiz over the past year.
He explained that this number represents a 26% increase compared to the number of infections recorded in 2023, which amounted to 39,866 cases.
Malaria is a parasitic disease transmitted by mosquitoes in swamps and open, stagnant water, causing serious complications that can lead to death.
The World Health Organization announced that it had detected more than one million cases of malaria and hundreds of deaths resulting from the disease in Yemen during 2024.
