Taiz: Nearly 400 measles cases since the beginning of this year

Health authorities in Taiz Governorate (southwest Yemen) announced the recording of nearly 400 measles cases and two deaths associated with the disease since the beginning of this year.
Tayseer Al-Samai, a health media official in the governorate, said that since the beginning of the month, 382 suspected cases of measles have been recorded in Taiz, including 83 laboratory-confirmed cases.
He added that two deaths related to the disease were reported during the period.
Measles is an acute, contagious viral disease that affects children, causing serious complications that can sometimes lead to death. Its symptoms include fever, persistent cough, runny nose, eye irritation and redness, sore throat, and skin rash. It is treated with a vaccine.
Measles is one of the most common diseases in childhood, but it can also affect adults.
