Major General Thawaba during his meeting with the UN advisor
The commander of the Third Military Region, Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabeh, confirmed that the Houthi militias are always trying to destroy any initiatives to end the war and establish peace, as their survival depends on igniting wars.
This came during his meeting today with a delegation from the office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, headed by the military advisor to the UN envoy, Anthony Hayward.
According to the September Net website, Major General Thawaba discussed with Hayward the military developments and the continued escalation of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias on the fronts, and the impact of the escalation on the United Nations' efforts to bring peace to Yemen.
He reviewed the bitter experiences with the Houthi militias and their constant violations of all previous truces and their constant breach of all treaties and covenants related to peace, stressing that the militias are not serious about peace and will not submit to it as is their habit.
He said: “We are for peace and we extend our hands for peace, and this is the approach of the political and military leadership.” He added: “At the same time, we are ready to confront and resolve the issue if these militias do not want to establish peace and continue their military escalation.”
He explained that the Yemeni armed forces today, with their various formations under the command of the Ministry of Defense, are fighting to establish peace, unlike the Houthi militias, which are fighting to destroy and loot.
He stressed the need for the international community and the United Nations to re-evaluate their position on the Houthi militias after they became a direct threat to regional and international security and peace.
The commander of the Third Military Region stressed that the sole goal today for all Yemenis is to restore the state from the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias, which have robbed citizens of their rights and freedom under the threat and force of arms.
For his part, the military advisor to the UN envoy explained the international community's keenness to achieve security and stability, make the peace process a success, and alleviate the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
He renewed the United Nations' commitment to working to provide the necessary support to the legitimate Yemeni government and to continue its efforts and communication with various parties to achieve peace.
