The United Nations said that climate change is exacerbating urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen, calling for support for relief agencies to provide assistance to millions.
This came in a post by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen (OCHA), on the X platform, coinciding with the launch of the (COP 29) Climate Summit, which began its work on Monday, in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
"Climate change events are exacerbating the already urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen," the UN office added.

Yesterday, Monday, the United Nations Climate Summit (COP 29) kicked off in Baku, with the participation of heads of state and government from around the world, companies active in the field of traditional and renewable energy, and organizations concerned with combating climate change.
According to the United Nations, the main goal of this year's meeting in Azerbaijan is to agree on how to get more money to the poorest countries to help them limit global warming and deal with climate change.
COP29 is the world's most important meeting on climate change, led by the United Nations. COP stands for "Conference of the Parties," meaning the nearly 200 countries that have ratified a treaty called the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).
