The United Nations announced that the floods resulting from heavy rains that struck the governorates of Hodeidah, Raymah, and Al Mahwit in Yemen, caused the death, injury, and loss of dozens, and the displacement of thousands of families as a result of the destruction of their homes.

The United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA ) said in a blog post on its account on the “X” platform, on Wednesday: “The heavy rains that fell on the governorates of Hodeidah, Raymah, and Al Mahwit caused the death and injury of dozens, the destruction and damage of thousands of homes, farms, and property, and the displacement and displacement of thousands of families.” .

He added that these governorates have been experiencing tragic humanitarian conditions since Wednesday evening, as a result of torrential rains.

The UN Fund indicated that the rapid response mechanism it leads "is currently harnessing all available resources for emergency relief, and has raised the level and scope of the urgent response to those affected, despite the difficulty of access as a result of damaged roads."

He stressed that there is an urgent need to provide more urgent support in order to provide relief to those affected and save lives.

For its part, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said, “Heavy rains and torrential rains have severely affected thousands of families in Hodeidah, causing dozens of deaths, loss and injury, and severe damage to homes, livelihoods and infrastructure.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, preliminary reports issued by the Houthi militia authorities reported the death of 30 people, the loss of five others, and the displacement of residents of more than 500 homes after their collapse due to the force of torrents, in areas under their control in Hodeidah Governorate, while no data was issued for Aden on the damage in Raymah.
