The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expected, on Wednesday, the continuation of the state of instability, and heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and descending winds in various Yemeni governorates.
The center said in its warning bulletin for the next 24 hours that heavy rains are expected, accompanied by hail, on the highlands of the governorates of (Saada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Ad Dali', Al Bayda, Tihama Plain and the coasts of Hajjah, Al Hudaydah, and Taiz).
He pointed out the possibility of scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity in parts of the governorates of (Lahj, Abyan, Marib, Al Jawf, Shabwa, Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut and the southern coasts).
The Meteorological Center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected to fall from staying in valleys and flood paths and from taking shelter from thunderstorms, strong winds and hail.
He also warned drivers of vehicles on mountain roads of the poor horizontal visibility due to rainfall and the formation of dense cumulus clouds, as well as rock slides on mountain roads and the collapse of mud and popular buildings.
The National Center called on official bodies to take the necessary measures and procedures to protect lives and property and to follow up on the bulletins and reports issued by it.
Last night, more than 30 people were killed in landslides and the erosion of homes following torrential floods caused by heavy rains in the Malhan district of Al Mahwit Governorate in western Yemen.
The local authority affiliated with the Houthi militia in Al Mahwit Governorate declared the Malhan District a disaster area due to the floods that occurred last night, and issued a distress call to rescue those trapped under the rubble.
