Angry failed student kills, injures 25 in stabbing rampage at school in eastern China

A student carried out a stabbing attack inside a school in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi on Saturday, killing eight people and injuring 17 others.

The attack took place at 6:30 p.m. local time at the Wuxi Vocational College of Arts and Technology in Wuxi City, Yangsu Province, local police said.

She added that the suspect in the stabbing operation was arrested, noting that initial investigations showed that he was a 21-year-old student.

"Because he did not receive his certificate after failing the exams and because he was dissatisfied with the (small) financial reward he received during the training, he returned to the institute to express his anger and committed these crimes," the police said, adding that the suspect "confessed to everything."

She added that its devices are fully mobilized to provide care for the injured and complete the investigation into this case.

The attack in Wuxi came days after a car ramming attack on Monday night near a sports center in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai killed 35 people and injured 43 others.

In recent years, China has witnessed stabbing incidents inside schools and kindergartens.

Although China is considered safe and deadly attacks are rare, it occasionally witnesses attacks that leave victims, such as the Zhuhai ramming attack and the stabbing attack that took place last October inside a large store in Shanghai, which resulted in the death of 3 people and the injury of 15 others.
