Media sources reported that a prominent Houthi leader known as "Abu Taha" Zain al-Abidin Ali Abdullah al-Muhturi was killed, along with five others, in US airstrikes targeting the government complex in the city of al-Hazm, the capital of al-Jawf Governorate, northeast of Sana'a.
According to journalist Faris Al-Hamri, a correspondent for the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, Houthi leader Al-Mahtouri is the security official in Al-Hazm city and the commander of the government complex protection forces in the governorate.
He pointed out that Al-Mahtouri is considered one of the ideological leaders, and has been assigned several security leadership tasks over the past years. He hails from the Al-Mahabisha District in Hajjah Governorate (northwest Yemen).
According to journalist Al-Hamri, the Houthi militia informed Al-Mahtouri's family of his death and that burial arrangements for his body would be made in the coming days in Sana'a.
US warplanes launched several raids on several locations in Al Jawf Governorate, Al Hudaydah, and the capital, Sana'a.
