A prominent Houthi militia leader, impersonating the governor of Hodeidah, issued a decree canceling all real estate purchase and sale contracts in the governorate retroactively to 2016, stipulating that any sale or purchase transaction must be approved by his direct signature.

An official document obtained by Yemen Youth Net revealed that Houthi leader Abdullah Abdo Atifi, who serves as the Houthi-appointed governor of Hodeidah, issued a circular to all official and private institutions and bodies, ordering the cancellation of all real estate contracts concluded since 2016 unless they bear his signature and the signature of the group's Land Authority.

The directive deemed any sale or purchase transactions not bearing its signature null and void, emphasizing that all previous contract files are considered void and unrecognized.

This decision comes as part of a systematic Houthi campaign to control the real estate sector in Hodeidah. The governorate is witnessing widespread land and building seizures, along with the forced displacement of thousands of residents in the areas of Ad-Durayhimi, Al-Jarrahi, At-Tuhayta, and Hodeidah city.

According to local sources, these measures aim to reshape the city's demographic and social landscape and build pro-Houthi residential complexes, similar to the "southern suburb" established by Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This move also represents a dangerous escalation in the ongoing Houthi violations against the residents of Hodeidah, and a blatant assault on private property rights, amid continued international silence regarding the Houthi practices targeting Yemeni society in areas under their control.
