Interior Minister Major General Ibrahim Haydan stressed on Sunday that the greatness of the historic achievement of the September 26, 1962 Revolution was embodied in its success in bringing about a radical transformation in the lives of Yemenis, noting the goals formulated by the heroes of this revolution, which were a translation of the people’s demands at the time.

The Minister of Interior said - in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on the occasion of the 62nd National Day of the September 26 Revolution - that "the immortal September 26 Revolution revealed the reality of the Yemeni people's situation and the enormity of the catastrophe they were living under the oppressive and tyrannical Imamate rule that perpetuated the trinity of ignorance, poverty and famine, along with the spread of diseases and epidemics that ravaged the Yemenis."

He pointed to the racial and class discrimination and the systematic division in society, tribes and families that prevailed during the period of the priestly Imamate rule, and a certain group was the one that received health, educational and cultural attention, while the rest of the people were deprived of these privileges.

Haidan added that the September 26 Revolution represented a new birth for Yemen and the Yemenis and transferred the people from the ages of darkness, backwardness, ignorance, tyranny and oppression to the age of light, freedom, education, progress, development, prosperity, prosperity and political pluralism and contributed to the establishment of a state that enjoys full sovereignty and has a regular army and security forces that protect the citizen and defend his rights and national gains.

The Minister of Interior pointed out that the values and principles of the September 26 Revolution focused on building the human being first, and its goals focused on liberation from tyranny and colonialism and their remnants, establishing a just republican government, and eliminating class differences and privileges among the people.

He also pointed out that the goals of the revolution were keen to raise the people's economic, social, political and cultural level, which makes it a comprehensive revolution that worked to bring about a radical change in the people's lives and focused on building the people culturally and cognitively and fighting ignorance and illiteracy to the same extent that it focused on the political, military and economic fields, according to what Minister Haidan said.

Major General Haidan added: “Successive governments since the establishment of the republican regime have been keen to raise the level of education, and schools and universities were among the first strategic projects. The period following the establishment of the republican regime also witnessed work to spread awareness of the national identity and enhance it, and to encourage and support the cultural, literary and intellectual movement.”

It also worked to “establish and print newspapers, magazines, radio stations and books, establish cinemas and intellectual forums, revive the national cultural heritage, and encourage artistic and literary work that works to strengthen national belonging and identity.

Minister Haidan touched on the unity of the Yemeni revolution and the connection between the September 26 revolution in North Yemen and the October 14 revolution in the south, which culminated in the achievement of complete independence on November 30, 1967.

He said, "The revolutionaries of September 26 realized that the Imamate regime in North Yemen could not be overthrown except with the support and cooperation of the revolutionaries of South Yemen, and the same thing applied to the revolutionaries of October 14. They realized how difficult the task was and that British colonialism could not be defeated except with the cooperation and support of the revolutionaries of September 26."

He added: "For this reason, the unity of the struggle between the revolutionaries of North and South Yemen during the period of struggle and fighting against the tyranny of the Imamate and British colonialism presented a unique model of the greatness of the national unity of the Yemeni people, even though the geography at that time was not unified."

In addition to launching the electronic networking project for human resources, electronic networking of land, sea and air ports, vocational and qualitative training, and professional qualification of human cadres to ensure the protection of the homeland from the danger of Houthi-Iranian smuggling operations.

The Minister of Interior considered all these achievements, security, service and digital projects, and the establishment of the Police College in Hadhramaut Governorate to receive new blood that contributes to building a new Yemen and continuing to implement the security strategy as an integral part of continuing the march of the September 26 Revolution in confronting the terrorist hordes of the Houthi Imamate.

Minister Haidan stressed the importance of the role of the national political, economic and social components and movements in the national battle against the terrorist Houthi militias supported by Iran, as was their role in the September 26 Revolution in 1962 and the overthrow of the Imamate regime.

He stressed that without eliminating the Houthis and liberating all the lands of the Republic, everyone will remain exposed to the danger of their terrorism and criminality, especially if the Houthi militia is not stripped of the tools of military power it currently possesses and all forms of Iranian military and logistical support for this militia are cut off.

The Minister of Interior concluded his speech by saying: “In the face of all these challenges, it is the duty of all components, as they celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution and the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, to draw inspiration from the national and historical lessons of these two immortal revolutions and work to unify ranks, efforts, capabilities and resources towards completing the liberation battle and eliminating the hordes of the Imamate represented by the terrorist Houthi militias, and crowning all these great sacrifices over the past ten years by achieving the great victory.”
