Yemen Youth - Follow-ups

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, called for broad international solidarity to support efforts to restore the state in Yemen, stressing that securing the Red Sea and transforming it from a "source of threat" to a "bridge of peace" requires enabling the legitimate authority to extend its control over the entire national territory.
This came during a dialogue session on Red Sea security, held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, where Al-Alimi stressed that achieving sustainable solutions requires strengthening the capabilities of the Yemeni government and implementing relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
Al-Alimi pointed out that the threats in the Red Sea originate from the Yemeni mainland, which requires supporting the Yemeni government to protect its territory, in parallel with implementing decisions to ban the flow of Iranian weapons to the Houthis. He considered this to be the most important lesson that must be learned from the current crisis.
The Chairman of the Leadership Council stressed that Yemen is not only defending itself, but the entire world, stressing the need to take practical steps to support the Leadership Council in restoring the state and enhancing its ability to protect this vital passage.
He added that Iran is leading the escalation in the Red Sea through its support for the Houthis, which makes reducing tensions linked to changing Tehran's policies. Al-Alimi also noted that the intervention of the Saudi-led Arab coalition through "Operation Decisive Storm" prevented the Houthis from controlling all of Yemen, warning that the continuation of threats without deterrence will cost the world huge losses.
Al-Alimi concluded by stressing the need to address the roots of the crisis by ending the coup and enforcing international legitimacy resolutions regarding the ban on Iranian weapons, to deter foreign interference in Yemeni affairs.
