A recent UN report confirmed that the food situation in Yemen remains in a "critical" state, with 61% of Yemeni families unable to obtain sufficient food late last year.
The World Food Program said in a report on the results of a field survey published on Tuesday, "Last November, the food security situation in Yemen remained critical, as WFP data shows that 61% of the families surveyed are unable to obtain sufficient food."
The report explained that this deterioration is primarily linked to the rise in food prices in areas controlled by the internationally recognized Yemeni government, the limited humanitarian food aid in areas controlled by the Houthis, and the scarcity of income-generating activities throughout the country.
The report indicated that the programme still suffers from a severe gap of 74% in funding its activities for the next six-month period (February-July) 2025.
