UN report: 15,400 Africans arrived in Yemen last January

A recent UN report revealed that 15,400 African migrants arrived in Yemen during the month of January.
The International Organization for Migration said in its monthly report that its tracking matrix recorded the entry of 15,400 migrants into Yemen during last January, a 25% decrease from the total number reported in the previous month, in which 20,435 migrants entered.
The report added that 98% of the migrants arriving in Yemen were Ethiopians, while the rest were of Somali nationality.
The report stated that 89% of the migrants arrived at the coasts of Dhubab in Taiz Governorate on the western coast of Yemen via Djibouti, while 11% arrived at the coasts of Shabwa coming from the coasts of Somalia.
He pointed out that men represented 57% of the total number of immigrants, compared to 22% of women and 21% of children.
It is noteworthy that 60,897 African migrants entered Yemen during the past year, coming from Ethiopia and Somalia through dangerous sea voyages, according to reports from the United Nations organization.
