The Middle East Conference concluded its activities on Wednesday in Istanbul, which was organized by the Mokha Center for Studies in cooperation with Gelisim University and a number of research institutions.
Over two days, 70 research papers were discussed, distributed over 15 sessions, focusing on the topic of “Geopolitical Transformations and the Sovereignty Dilemma in the Middle East.”
In the sessions, researchers presented in-depth analyses of the most prominent political, economic, and security challenges facing the region, with a focus on the impact of major geopolitical changes on state sovereignty and the position of the Middle East in the current global order.
The conference also paid special attention to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on health, education, and infrastructure, and calling for increased international efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni civilians.
The discussions touched on the geopolitical competition in the Red Sea, and the impact of competition between major powers on regional security and stability, given the strategic importance of the Red Sea as a major waterway for international trade.
The conference concluded its work by stressing the importance of enhancing academic and research cooperation to confront the accelerating challenges facing the Middle East region.
