Real Madrid boycotts Ballon d'Or ceremony

Real Madrid have decided to boycott the Ballon d'Or ceremony, which will be held on Monday evening in the French capital, Paris, in protest against the club's management not awarding the award to the team's star, Brazilian Vinicius.

Spanish newspaper Marca and other media sources confirmed that Real Madrid's delegation did not travel to the French capital, despite the club having a number of candidates for the award. However, the team's management took this step after realizing that first place in the voting process would not be in favor of the Brazilian player, who seemed to be the biggest candidate.

The French website RMC confirmed, in turn, that those close to the Brazilian player are certain that he will not receive the award, which angered the Real Madrid management, which believes that the team was not respected, due to the criteria it set, and that if Vinicius does not win, the award should go to the team player Dani Carvajal, who won the most important titles of the year.

According to the French website's sources, "for Real Madrid, it is very clear" that the Ballon d'Or organizers and UEFA "do not respect" the club. If the club is not respected, it cannot attend the ceremony.

The club believes that if the Ballon d'Or criteria do not allow Vinicius to be declared the winner, then Carvajal should win the award," referring to Manchester City's Rodri who will be crowned tonight, despite Carvajal having won more titles than him last season, in addition to both players winning the European Championship with Spain.
