The Egyptian Olympic team advanced to the semi-finals of the football competition within the activities of the thirty-third edition of the 2024 Summer Olympics, currently being held in France.
The “Pharaohs” team snatched the ticket to the “golden square” of the tournament from its Paraguayan counterpart, beating them on penalties (5-4) after they tied with one goal each in regular time of the match that brought them together today, Friday.
The biggest chapter in Egypt's national team reaching the semi-finals for the first time in 60 years is due to midfielder Ibrahim Adel, who snatched the equalizer for his country in the dead time, just two minutes before the end of the match's regular time, in response to the goal of Paraguayan Diego Gomez, which he scored at The 71st minute of the match at Stade Velodrome, Marseille.
