Turkish Intelligence Chief Visits Damascus, Meets Al-Sharaa and Al-Shaibani

The leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, met in the capital Damascus on Sunday with the head of Turkish intelligence, Ibrahim Kalin.

"The head of the new Syrian administration, Ahmad al-Sharaa, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani, and the head of the General Intelligence Service, Anas Khattab, met with a Turkish delegation headed by Ibrahim Kalin, the head of the General Intelligence Service," the official Syrian news agency SANA said.

The agency did not mention further details about the content of the meeting, but it comes as part of the two countries' continued efforts to strengthen their relations in various fields, after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime.

On December 8, Syrian factions took control of Damascus, days after taking control of other cities, thus ending 61 years of bloody Baath Party rule and 53 years of the Assad family regime.

The next day, Sharaa announced that Mohammed al-Bashir, the head of the government that had been running Idlib in the north of the country for years, had been tasked with forming a government to manage the transitional phase.
