Gaza: 129 martyrs as a result of Israel’s attack on the “safe zone” in Khan Yunis
Gaza| 24 July, 2024 - 4:13 PM

The government media office in the Gaza Strip announced, on Wednesday, that 129 Palestinians were killed and more than 416 others were injured, within three days of the operation launched by the Israeli occupation on the city of Khan Yunis, which it previously claimed was among the “safe areas.”
The office said in a statement: “The new Israeli aggression on the city of Khan Yunis left 129 martyrs and 416 injured, including 100 who have not yet reached hospitals, and 44 missing.”
He added: "There are 1,350 appeals from families besieged in the city of Khan Yunis who do not know how to get out due to the Israeli incursion and shooting."
She added: "The occupation bombed 22 inhabited homes above the heads of their residents."
She continued: "237 homes and residential buildings were affected by Israeli bombing during the past days."
He pointed out that "the occupation army targets everything that moves on Salah al-Din Street in Khan Yunis, and hinders coordination operations to reach the injured and martyrs."
He explained, "The occupation army is repeatedly committing a crime against humanity regarding displacement, displacement, and the reshaping of human geography, in a way that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of injured, sick, pregnant women, children, the elderly, and people with special needs, and exposes them to death."
The office called on the international community and all countries of the world to “stop this shame, these crimes, and these massacres immediately and urgently.”
On Monday morning, the Israeli army launched a sudden air and artillery attack on the eastern areas of the city of Khan Yunis, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
Intensive Israeli raids continue on the eastern areas of the city of Khan Yunis, which the Israeli army previously claimed were “safe.”
These areas witnessed a large displacement of citizens who fled under the lava of the Israeli raids to other places far from the targeting areas, on foot or using primitive means of transportation.
Some time after the attack, the Israeli army ordered the Palestinians in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis to “evacuate immediately” and head towards the Al-Mawasi area, west of the city.
The Israeli army had classified the areas extending from the west of Salah al-Din Street (east of the city) to the sea in Khan Yunis as “safe areas,” while evacuation orders included a number of neighborhoods in the eastern regions.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on Gaza that has resulted in more than 129,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing people amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, and to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
