Hamas's Shehab News Agency reported early Thursday morning that the movement's spokesman, Abdel Latif al-Qanou, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip.
Hamas's Al-Aqsa TV reported that Al-Qanou' was killed after his tent in Jabalia was targeted. Medical sources said the same airstrike also wounded several others.
Earlier this week, the Israeli occupation assassinated prominent leaders Ismail Barhoum and Salah al-Bardawil, another prominent leader.
Both Bardawil and Barhoum were members of the 20-member political bureau, 11 of whom Hamas sources indicate have been killed since the war began in late 2023.
Israel ended a two-month ceasefire last week by resuming bombing and ground operations, as it increases pressure on Hamas to release its remaining prisoners.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that at least 830 people, more than half of them children and women, have been killed since the occupation forces resumed their massive military attacks on Gaza on March 18.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the strikes because Hamas had rejected proposals to extend the ceasefire. On Wednesday, he renewed his threats to seize territory in Gaza if Hamas did not release its remaining prisoners.
