Senior Arab officials warn that Trump's plan, which has been met with international condemnation, could threaten the fragile ceasefire in the Strip and exacerbate instability in the region.

Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, warned during the World Government Summit in Dubai that Trump’s pressure to proceed with implementing his plan would lead the Middle East into a new round of crises, and that the repercussions of this confrontation would be dire for peace and stability.

"If President Trump continues with this method of pressuring the Gazans, the Arab world, the Egyptians, the Jordanians, the Saudis, and all these influential powers in this region, I imagine that, instead of resolving the Palestinian issue with a just solution based on the two-state solution, he will lead the Middle East into a new cycle of severe conflict between the Arabs and Israel," Aboul Gheit said.

Jassim Al-Badawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, called on Trump to remember the strong relations between the region and Washington, adding, "There are clear constants regarding the Palestinian issue... You have a deal that the Arab world will not accept."

Egypt is scheduled to host an emergency Arab summit on February 27 to discuss the "dangerous" developments related to the Palestinians.

Aboul Gheit pointed out that the idea of the Arab Peace Initiative, which was launched in 2002, will be raised again, in which Arab countries offered Israel normalization of relations in exchange for an agreement to establish a Palestinian state and Israel's complete withdrawal from the territories it occupied in 1967.
